Matt Cassel leaves after hit
Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Matt Cassel left Sunday's 9-6 loss to the Baltimore Ravens after taking a fourth-quarter hit from All-Pro Haloti Ngata.
The team said Cassel suffered a head injury. He did not return.
Cassel remained flat on his back for several minutes before getting helped up and walking off the field under his own power. Brady Quinn started warming up and entered the game to a round of applause.
Cassel was 9-of-15 for 92 yards with two interceptions before leaving the game. He also had a costly fumble on an attempted quarterback sneak from the Ravens 1.
Cassel has been the subject of much angst by Chiefs fans during a 1-3 start to the season, and a banner towed by an airplane before the game implored coach Romeo Crennel to bench Cassel -- and the Chiefs to fire general manager Scott Pioli.
Chiefs fans cheered as Cassel walked off the field following Ngata's hit.
Quinn completed all three of his passes for 32 yards.
