Jerry Maclin tears ACL

of the downsides of training camp is when a season-ending injury occurs in practice, weeks before a game.
That's the case with Philadelphia Eagles receiver Jeremy Maclin.
Maclin was carted off the field with a leg injury after being down on the field in pain during practice. Multiple early reports said he feared he tore his ACL, and he has experience with that. He tore an ACL at Missouri.
(UPDATE: The team confirmed that Maclin did tear his ACL.)

It's bad for an Eagles team without a lot of great options at receiver. It's bad for Maclin, who is in a contract year.
It's a terrible blow for the player and the team. Riley Cooper is the most likely candidate to replace Maclin, who had 69 catches for 857 yards last year.
