According to Yahoo! Sports' Marc J. Spears, the tests on Davis' head have revealed a minor concussion and he won't make the Hornets' trip to face the Chicago Bulls:
---End of Update---
Already in a seeming leadership role in just his second career NBA game, Davis was having a solid performance before getting injured. He had put up eight points and six rebounds in 14 minutes before colliding with teammate Austin Rivers in the second quarter.
The former Kentucky Wildcats superstar was New Orleans' No. 1 overall pick in June's draft and certainly fit the billing in his first game as well. Active for just 29 minutes, Davis had 21 points and seven rebounds while providing the type of stalwart presence the Hornets hoped for.
If Davis has a concussion, it could be a crushing blow to the Hornets' young season. Gordon is already out indefinitely with a knee injury, meaning a concussion could leave New Orleans without its two best players for an undisclosed amount of time.
With awareness about the injury at an all-time high, there is little-to-no chance that the team will do anything to risk Davis' long-term health.
