Wisconsin’s Ben Brust threw up a contested half-court prayer in the final second of regulation to knot the game up at 60 and force overtime against the Michigan.
Wisconsin looked defeated, trailing by three points with 2.4 seconds to play after Michigan’s Tim Hardaway Jr. drained a dagger three-pointer.
The Badgers could have rolled over right then and there, but they didn’t. Sure, it took a little luck—OK, a miracle—but the Badgers found a way to force overtime, and they made the most out of their new life.
Overtime was all Wisconsin as they shut down the Wolverines completely, allowing just two points during the extra period.
A last-ditch, game-tying three-point attempt from Trey Burke rattled in and out after the star guard faded back and let one fly in the closing seconds.
Unfortunately for the Wolverines, lady luck would not strike twice in the closing moments of this huge Big Ten contest.
Hardaway Jr. (18 points) and Burke (19 points) played remarkably, keeping their team in this highly contested matchup. But in the end it was a little bit of luck and some stout overtime defense that led to the upset in Madison, WI.
Brust’s shot may go down as one of the top moments of the 2012-13 college basketball season and in recent memory. It certainly has our vote.
It looks like Brust agrees. ESPN's Tom Lea reported on the hero's post-game remarks (via Twitter):

Wisconsin improves to 8-3 in Big Ten play with the win, and Michigan, the No. 3 ranked team in the country, falls even with the Badgers with the same conference record.
Another fall in national ranking will also likely be in order for the Wolverines.
