Dwight Howard's Trade to LA Lakers Drove Him To Have His First Drink Ever

Dwight Howard is not what we would call a "big drinker." It took a major geographical change and a tumultuous end with the only franchise he's known for him to finally have an alcoholic drink. 

ESPNLA.com's Dave McMenamin reports (h/t Larry Brown Sports) that the Lakers' newest big man decided it was finally time to get his drink on when he was traded—but just one, and it was a shot of vodka. 

I'm not without the ability to drink to celebrate a hard week of work. Shoot, I'm thinking about cracking an IPA to celebrate the end of this sentence. 

Ahh, refreshing. 

Howard is an entirely different breed. 

McMenamin caught up with the big man and found out some rather interesting things he didn't already know and posted them to his Sulia account. 

The third reads: 

Dwight has never been drunk in his life. In fact, he's only had one alcoholic drink in his 26 years: a celebratory shot of CÎROC (P Diddy's top-shelf vodka) with his friends when the Lakers trade became official this summer.

The other two interesting facts—if you could still possibly care after something like this—is Howard having pretty bad eyesight, requiring glasses when he is without his contacts. The other is that while Howard shoots right-handed, he is actually predominantly left-handed. 

But still, just one drink in his entire life?!

Having suffered some mighty difficult days in college when I wondered whether beer was indeed a gift from the gods, I applaud Howard. 

He has never known the awful depths of a hangover, and we hope he never does. Then again, he will never know the joy that is a Bloody Mary paired with a plate of bacon and eggs the morning after. 

This is a tough conundrum, so I think I'll have a drink on it. Cheers!
