Jarvis Jones Breaks Georgia's All-Time Sack Record in Bowl Clash with Nebraska

I don't know if you've heard, but this Jarvis Jones fella from Georgia is one heck of a football player.

In Tuesday's Capital One Bowl clash against Nebraska, Jones set Georgia's single-season record for sacks. From the Atlanta Journal-Constitution:

Coming into the game, Jones had 78 tackles, 12.5 sacks, seven forced fumbles and 22.5 tackles for loss. The man is a beast, plain and simple.

He's also a good bet to be a top-five pick in April's NFL draft if he chooses to forgo his senior season and make the jump to the NFL. He has all of the makings to be a game-changing outside linebacker in a 3-4 scheme, and his athleticism and ability to rush the quarterback will have teams salivating.

He was a finalist for the Lombardi Award, Dick Butkus Award, Bronko Nagurski Award and the Bednarik Award. Manti Te'o of Notre Dame took home each award, and deservingly so. Jones is also a two-time All-American.

Outside of winning a national championship and perhaps a few individual awards, what else is there for Jones to accomplish in college?

If Jones can stay healthy at the next level, he'll be an absolute beast. In 2012, he once again proved that, besting David Pollack as the single-season sacks leader in Georgia history. Jones has said he has loved his experience at Georgia and would love to finish out his degree, but the siren song of a multimillion dollar contract might be too much to resist.

And who could blame him? He's ready for the next level. And believe me, the rest of the SEC is ready to see him go as well.
